I figured it out!!! I know the secret!!!
... OK, I know I sound a little too exited, but I've managed to calculate exactly how Enhancing works.
Ever wondered why Angel Queen makes you lvl up three times?
Are there any other cards out there with the same capabilities?
Is there a way to lvl up faster?
A lot of people think that using any other normal card as enhancers will always give the same results. WRONG! I've been enhancing with different normal cards and the results are very different. Others think that its best to enhance a card using cards of its same Faction; and there is some truth in that. Knowing what cards to use and how to use them may save you a lot of time, stamina an rupees; and guess what, that's what we are going to figure out now!
I usually grind a lot when I'm trying to max a card. I used to go to the higher chapters, thinking that the cards I got there would help me the most. After spending 100 STA, at 8 STA per turn, I ended up with only 4 cards. It was frustrating, so I went to the first chapter and got myself a bunch of cards (like 30 to be exact). Lets enhance!! Wanna know if it was a good idea? Here are the results, and their laughable!
(By HP I meant stamina, lol)
4 cards from chapter 9 got me like 60% exp each = 240% total avg
30 cards from chapter 2 got me like 30%each = 900% total avg
It is clear that going back to the 2nd chapter was the smartest and most beneficial thing to do. But a few questions remained unanswered, the most important being, Why?
This is due to a series of variables, what makes it a little complicated to explain. But it's not impossible either. Lets start!
(Warning! There is a REALLY detailed explanation coming your way right now. If you prefer, you can go straight to step 6 for a summary. If you are curious like me and want evidence to prove how reliable this information is, please continue reading on step one.)
1. It's math -
First thing we have to understand is that developers don't just assign random values to cards. There is logic to it and it can be followed. Also, it's important to know that this "logic" is based on an exponential equation. How do I know? Well, lets just say it's RPG basics. (Don't worry, not gonna bother you with math; not now) The best we can do is find a pattern through trial and error. (and I already did that, so don't worry about that either).
2. Testing -
I did this experiment twice with different test subjects (Daphne and Princess Angel) to better verify results. Here, I will show only one of the examples since there is no point on duplicating information. In both tests, the results were exactly the same. On experiment #1, I used Daphne as my Constant (card to be enhanced). Then, to make sure my results wouldn't get contaminated, I used Angel as my Control card and every now and then I would use it (enhance) to verify accuracy. At last, I used several other cards as enhancers (individually).
IMPORTANT
All enhancers were NORMAL cards, TIER 1 and LVL 1. Results will vary if used in any other stage. This guide is 100% accurate within this parameters. I will provide another guide for HN cards and up. If you are LVL 50 and/or on quest 16 or higher, you may want to refer to that guide. (You most be getting a few more HN cards by now)
3. Don't Get Nervous -
It's not as hard as it looks, stay with me. You'll see table showing the results of the experiment. The results had to be separated in two groups: (1) Same faction as the card being enhanced (red) and (2) other facions (blue) and the reason will be explained later. Also, even though you are already familiar with most of the terms used in-game (STA, PWR, DEF, ATK, TIER, etc) there are some things new you'll have to learn. The terms are "Overall" and "Overall per Power Cost" or "O/P" for short.
Overall - You may have seen this in the filtering options when going through your cards. To find the Overall value of a card you must take its attack, add its defense and finally divide it by 2. This is exactly what the game does when filtering this way.
He is an example using Daphne over there:
( ATK + DEF ) / 2 = OVERALL
( 6993 + 6916 ) / 2 = 6954 approx
O/P - Overall per Power Required or O/P for short is the most important thing to understand (will explain why). To find the O/P of a card, you must take the Overall value and divide it by the Power Required value. See bellow:
Overall / Power R. = O/P
6954 / 16 = 435 approx
4. Results -
Now that we understand what the terms Overall and O/P are, we are ready to continue. See bellow the results of Experiment #1. Columns go as follows:
Enhancer - Card used as an enhancer
Faction - God, Daemon, or Man (given)
ATK - Attack value of the card (given)
DEF - Defense value of the card (given)
OVERALL - Overall value of the card (calculated)
POWER - Power Required by the card (given)
O/P - Overall per Power Required (calculated)
EXP% - Progress gained from enhancing (result)
5. Understanding -
(a) There are two tables and graphs because there are two patterns. The reason being that when using an enhancer that is the same faction as the card being enhanced, you get higher results. If you look at the graph you'll have an idea of how different. Of course, other variables may influence.
(b) As you can see on the table, the %Progress gained when enhancing is directly related to the cards O/P (Overall per Power Requirement). You will get better results from a card with a lower O/P than from one with a higher O/P.
(c) You get a boost when enhancing using the same faction. In this case, DRYAD and GOBLIN have the same O/P but, since angel is a GOD (same faction as card being enhanced - Daphne) it got a boost.
................. DRYAD (190 O/P) = 27% 20
................. GOBLIN (190 O/P) = 21% 24
(d) The reason why TIER 2 and up cards are not included in this experiment is because apparently they do not follow the same rules. I saw too many abnormalities that require more analysis. Anyway, after some tests, its obvious that using enhancers in their original form gets better results than evolving them as the evolve card does not duplicate the experience gained.
(e) "Perfect Enhancement" - You nay have come across this several times by now but still don't really know what it is or why it happens. This is a fixed chace, a propability that could give you a significant boost when enchancing. As random as it may be, there are ways to raise your chances of geting a Perfect Enhancement (lets call it PE for short, ok). During my experimentation, I tested with some higher TIER cards just to see what happened. Took an Angel, go it to Angel+ and then enhanced it a little (4 levels to be exact). Then I used it as an enhancer for Daphne; instant Perfect Enhancement!!! Had to do it again to see if it happened two times in a row... Boom! It did. Repeated 2 more times and got a boost every time. Probably, the fact that it was a God also helped.
In Other words; there are ways to raise your chances of geting a special boost or "Perfect Enhancement" as the game calls it. In theory, if the card used as enhancer has been already worked on at least a little bit, your chances will be higher.
(f) Due to the exponential growth of the cards, results may vary a little when reaching MAX LVL. Cards will start getting lower results. When this happens, the card being enhanced starts compensating for what it's still missing. If the card's DEF is almost at limit but ATK is not, using a card with higher ATK as enhancer should help you get there faster. (Theory based on actual results but will need more testing. Stay tuned for updates)
Put it to the test!!!
As an example, we'll use the famous Angel Queen. This baby will lvl you up 3 times (300%). If the theory is correct, this card's O/P should be VERY low. That would explain the high results. Let us calculate this card's O/P then.
First we need to find out its Overall value
( ATK + DEF ) / 2 = OVERALL
( 100 + 100 ) / 2 = 100 approx
Now that we have the Overall value of the card, we need to calculate its O/P. Lets go!!
Overall / Power R. = O/P
100 / 300 = 0.03 approx
So its O/P is 0.03 That explains the 300% (3 levels) when used as enhancer. Now that you know this little secret, you can keep an eye on cards with low stats (ATK and DEF) and high Power Requirement. Those are the ones that will give you the oomph you're looking for when enhancing.
6. SUMMARIZING
(a) All enhancers were NORMAL cards, TIER 1 and LVL 1. Results will vary if used in any other stage. This guide is 100% accurate within this parameters. I will provide another guide for HN cards and up. If you are LVL 50 and/or on quest 16 or higher, you may want to refer to that guide. (You most be getting a few more HN cards by now)
(b) Using same faction cards as enhancers will usually give u better results.
(c) Overall value is the average power ((atk + def) / 2) of a card
(d) O/P is Overall value of a card devided by its Power Requirement
(e) When enhancing, the less O/P a card has, the better. (see Angel Queen example)
(f) Isn't better to evolve cards before using them as enhancers?
Simply put: NO! Waste of cards and money. In this example, two Angels got me 30% Progress individually for a total of 60% Progress. When evolved into one card (Tier 2) it only got me 49%. So, no. Don't do it.
(g) Why not include higher lvl cards as enhancers in your experiment?
I did try to incorporate a section that explained the results of enhancing with higher lvl cards, but lets be honest; there is no point in enhancing a card to use it later as an enhancer. You end up wasting too many cards and the outcome is pitiful. Stick with LVL 1 cards, that's what you get in quests anyway.
(h) Working on a card before using it as an enhancer will increase your chances of geting a Perfect Enhancement. By working on them I mean lvling up and/or evolving it. Also, using HN, R, HR, etc may greatly increase your chances too. (Still testing)
(i) What about HM, R, HR and higher cards? Does this apply to those too?
Due to my current in-game limitations, I am not able to test those yet. It is possible that they do follow the same pattern, but it has to be put the test first before making it official.
Thanks for reading. I hope you learned something useful from all this. I will keep updating. Feel free to post any questions you may have. If you have any suggestions or thoughts about the content of this guide, you can pm me or post here. I want to hear your opinion.
Thanks
